- DOBLE OPPFØRINGER AV KONTAKTER I FELLES KONTAKTLISTE MAPPEN (typisk for Outlook XP uten oppdateringer);
- Nedlasting av e-post feiler;
- Outlook krasjer ;
- For lite minne, feilmeldinger;

  • Databasen vil inneholde all kontaktinformasjon for alle.

  • Office 2000 sr1 eller høyere; (s cal) Administrator rettigheter;

·        Nei.

How do I use it with Exchange Server ?

·        In the Outlook folder list, go to Public Folders;

·        Create a new Folder, set it to hold contact items;

·        Set the permissions of role 'Default' to Author;

·        On every Outlook client, run the setup;

·        Choose "Settings" --> "Select Team Contact Folder", browse to the Public Folder you created and select it.

·        Choose "Settings", button "Select Database", navigate to the share on which you placed the "TeamContacts.mdb" file and select it.

·        You don't have to enable the systray Autosync tool. The Public Folder will be up to date in real time.

How do I use it without Exchange Server ?

·        In the Outlook folder list you already have a sub folder named TeamContacts.

·        Choose "Settings", button "Select Database", navigate to the share on which you placed the " TeamContacts.mdb" file and select it.

·        You will have to enable the systray Autosync tool. It is under button Sync TeamContacts, check the option "Launch auto-sync on start-up"

·        No other actions are needed.

I am not technical, but can you explain how it works?

·        When you install TeamContacts, a piece of software is added to Outlook.

·        This add-in monitors your own contacts and the TeamContacts folder and waits for you to do something in it.

·        When you do something in your contacts or the TeamContacts folder it makes a note of that in a database and directly copies the contact information to the TeamContacts folder or vice versa.

·        It does this too for all users that have the same database in their settings.

·        So all actions that all users, with the TeamContacts add-in Outlook, do in their own Contacts folder or the TeamContacts folder are written to a shared database.

·        When a user pushes the synchronize button OR when the autosync tray application runs, all records  in the shared database are translated back to contacts in the TeamContacts folder of that user.

·        If you use Exchange server with a Public Folder no one has to push a button or run the autosync tool but when every user has a private TeamContacts folder then they do have to sync or use the auto sync tool.

Your software sends an email why?, when? to who?

Team Contacts sends us an email:

·        when it is installed;

·        when a new user is starting to use the database for the first time;

·        when an error occurs.

 The email contains the following information:

·        Team Contacts version;

·        Your e-mail address;

·        Your Office version and service pack;

·        Your MS access db engine version (if any);

·        Your DAO version;

·        Your Windows version and service pack.

In case of an error

·         a description of the error

·        This information is used only to support in a pro-active way. You might even get a solution to an error before you ask for it. We may inform you of a new version with more functionality. We will never share or sell any information about your email address or software versions with anyone in any way.

I get an error when I try to sync my TeamContacts or when the autosync tool starts a synchronization and don't use an Exchange Public Folder as TeamContacts

·        When you use the same pc with different users please select the right (sub) folder in: Settings, select TeamContacts. It still points to the Outlook subfolder of the other user on your pc.

·        In general, if you get an error it's always a good idea to check and re-select you folders and database.

Can I import my existing contacts?

·        Yes. Choose "Settings" -> "Import personal contacts"

I attempted to uninstall the demo, through the normal windows "Add / remove programs" in the control panel of settings, it didn't work !

You might have had Outlook running in the background processes.
To remove all remains :

In Outlook

·        Go to "Tools" -> "Options" -> "Other" -> "Advanced" -> "Com add-ins"

·        Select "TeamContacts" and click the button "Remove"

If any buttons remain in Outlook:

·        Right-click on the button you want to remove and choose the last option in the pop-up menu (adjust)

·        Right-click again on the button and choose the second option: "delete"

You can also remove the "C:\Program Files\TeamContacts" folder.

Does TeamContacts offer any different views for the Contacts?  We need one to be able to .....

·        Try: "View" --> "Current view" --> "Define view" -> "New";

·        You can use the {filter} option to define that you only want to see the category "Prospects" in that specific view;

·        If you enable "View" --> "Toolbars" --> "Advanced". You can switch easily between views. Play with it a bit, views are very powerful.

I want to start all over again, clean everything and start fresh

I don't have a Exchange server public folder as Team Contacts

·        Delete your local Outlook TeamContacts subfolder, empty "Deleted items"folder;

·        Stop Outlook;

·        Delete the "C:\Program Files\TeamContacts" directory;

·        Run the TeamContacts installation program;

·        Start Outlook. (the TeamContacts subfolder is created again);

·        Copy the new, clean TeamContacts.mdb from "C:\Program Files\TeamContacts" to the network share;

·        Point to the (Empty) database on the network;

·        Run the import function ("Settings" -> "Import personal contacts").

I do have a Exchange server public folder as TeamContacts

·        Browse to the public TeamContacts folder in Outlook;

·        Select "View" --> "Current view" --> "By Category";

·        Delete all contacts;

·        Stop Outlook;

·        Delete the "C:\Program Files\TeamContacts" directory;

·        Run the TeamContacts installation program;

·        Start Outlook;

·        Copy the new, clean TeamContacts.mdb from "C:\Program Files\TeamContacts" to the network share;

·        Point to the (Empty) database on the network;

·        Point to the Public Folder;

·        Run the import function ("Settings" -> "Import personal contacts").

·        Things you might want to, but should not, do:

The public calendar in Exchange server shows my contacts but when I change or delete one, that is not updated in the Exchange public folder.

  • For the public contacts to be in sync with the personal contacts of all users it is VITAL that one of the owners of the public contacts folder makes at least one contacts in their personal contacts while the TeamContacts program is monitoring their personal contacts folder.
  • The TeamContacts program will add a few fields to the public contacts folder that it needs to keep contacts in sync. But it can only do that if it is used at least once by someone who has owner permissions.
  • Be aware that when an Exchange server administrator changes Exchange server permissions so you become owner, those changes can take a long time to become effective. It might even be needed to restart the exchange server directory service for the permission change to become effective.

The buttons on the toolbar don't work anymore and TeamContacts not longer shares contacts.

·        Try: Shut down the PC  and reboot.

if still no good

·        Start Outlook;

·        Choose "Help" --> "About Microsoft Outlook"  and then click "Disabled Items".

·        To enable "TeamContacts", select the item and click "Enable".

if still no good

·        Check "Tools" --> "Options" --> "Other" --> "Advanced options" --> "Com add-ins';

·        Check if "TeamContacts" is in the list and the checkbox is checked;

·        If it is not checked, check it.

if still no good

·        Check "Tools" --> "Options" --> "Other" --> "Advanced options" --> "Com add-ins';

·        Check if "TeamContacts" is in the list and remove it from the list;

·        "Add" button;

·        Browse to "C:\Program files\TeamContacts"

·        Select "TeamContacts.dll".

·        If it is not checked, check it.

If it's not in the list :

·        "Add" button;

·        Browse to "C:\Program files\TeamContacts"

·        Select "TeamContacts.dll".

if still no good

·        Install the setup again but make sure you have administrator rights.

         How to de-install ?

  • Delete the file "C:\Program Files\TeamContacts\TCHelper.exe";
  • In Outlook choose "Tools" --> "Options" --> "Other" --> "Advanced" --> "Com add-ins";
  • You see a list with installed com add-ins, select "TeamContacts" and delete it.
  • Now you can delete the "C:\Program files\TeamContacts" directory and run the uninstaller in Windows: "Control panel" --> "Add/remove programs"

        "I started with the uninstaller in the control panel, and removed some things manually but I still see the buttons.."

  • To remove any button from Outlook, right-click on it.
  • Choose "Customize";
  • Right click, on the button you want removed, again.
  • Choose "Delete".

We don't have a server at all, no peer to peer, no LAN.. now what ?

You can use a webserver and replication: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnacc2k/html/intrjet4.asp

or connect a pc to the internet and set it up as a VPN enabled server where you can share the database so you and your team can connect to it over the internet.
